ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the clinical curative effect and security between microwave ablation treatment and surgical resection of benign thyroid nodules. Methods The imaging and clinical data of 100 cases of patients with benign thyroid nodules were collected,44 cases with 53 nodules were treated by microwave ablation treatment (ablation group),and 56 cases with 60 nodules were treated by surgical resection (surgery group). The rates of nodule regression in 1,3,6,12months after treatment, the size and changes of benign thyroid nodules in patients treated with microwave ablation therapy,as well as postoperative adverse reactions, time of inhospital were observed. Results The rates of nodule regression in 1,3,6,12 months therapy group were 54.55 %,72.73 %,95.45 %,95.45 %,while the rates in surgeny group were 100 %.In the 1,3 months after treatment, the rates of nodule regression in ablation group were lower than those in surgery group (both P<0.001).In the 6,12 months after treatment, the rates had no statistically significant differences in both groups (both P=0.245).With the extension of observation time, the nodule volume of the patients treated with microwave ablation therapy had a tendency to continue to shrink, particularly in the first 6 months. The incidence of hypothyroidism in ablation group was lower than surgery group (P=0.019).The difference of the incidence s of hematoma, infection, voice hoarse, parathyroid injury were not statistically significant in both groups (all P>0.05).The time of inhospital in ablation group was obviously shorter than that in surgery group (t=-8.499,P=0.001).Conclusion Microwave ablation treatment of benign thyroid nodules has guaranteed results. It has the following advantages such as less complications, small trauma, short hospitalization time.So it has a broad prospect in clinical application.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To determine whether Jiunaoning injection has protective effects on oxygen/glucose-deprived and reperfusion injury-induced neurons. METHODS: Various concentrations of Jiunaoning injection (0.5-5 mL/L) were used to observe their effects on cultured rat cortical neurons induced by oxygen/glucose-deprived and reperfusion injury in various time points. The neuronal metabolic rate and viability were assessed by using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol)-2, 5-diphenyl-tetra zoliumbromide (MTT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay. RESULTS: Jiunaoning injection enhanced the neuronal metabolic rate in a dose-dependent manner in the range from 0.5 to 5 mL/L, and Jiunaoning injection (1.5-2.5 mL/L) enhanced the neuronal metabolic rate, decreased the cell death rate and depressed LDH leak rate significantly. CONCLUSION: Jiunaoning injection has an affirmative protective effect on oxygen/glucose-deprived and reperfusion-induced neuronal injury.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the effect of Zhongfeng Nao De Ping, a traditional chinese medicine, on the cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats. METHODS: Delayed neuronal death (DND) model was established by bilateral carotid arteries occlusion for l0 min followed by 1 day and 7 days reperfusion. Effects of sodium glutamate, ketamine and Zhongfeng Nao De Ping on DND in the hippocampus was examined by counting neuronal density in CAl Sector, and the contents of Ca 2+ and amino acids in the hippocampus were also measured. RESULTS: The contents of the glutamate and aspartate in the hippocampus were increased significantly at l0 min after transient cerebral ischemia. Sodium glutamate markedly decreased the neuronal density in hippocampal CAl sector, while ketamine and Zhongfeng Nao De Ping increased it significantly in the same sector. The level of Ca 2+ increased on day 1, day 7 after the reperfusion, while Zhongfeng Nao De Ping inhibited the increase in Ca 2+ concentration in hippocampus. CONCLUSION: These results suggested that Zhongfeng Nao De Ping has an effective protection against DND in hippocampus following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion in rats.

ABSTRACT

Oyster complete nutritional tablet was used in treating 40 patients with yin -deficiency syndrome due to metaphase -advanced stage carcinnoma. The results showed that the general symptoms of patients were improved obviously, the hemogram was gone up and some of the immunologic indices was ameliorated. The tablet contributed to relaxing the chest, regulating vital energy, clearing away lung -heat and eliminating sputum, showing the efficacy for moisturizeing dryness by nourishing yin.

ABSTRACT

The Syndrome of yin -deficiency was made by thyroid hormone with reserpine in Kunming mice. Oyster complete nutritional tablet was used to treat the syndrome of yin -deficiency in mice. The results showed that a series of syndrome of the yin -deficiency were improved and animal mortality was cut down patently. The degree of histopathologic damage in cells of liver, kidney, spleen, intestine was reduced and histochemical observation suggested that the contents of RNA and glycogen in liver cell were raised significantly. Abnormal activity of enzyme was improved. The tablet showed a benefit effects on protecting liver, kidney, spleen and intestine to a certain extent.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To observe the changes of glycemia and serum cholesterol and triglyceride in diabetic nephropathy rats and therapeutic effects of Xiaoke Keli Ji. METHODS: 3/4 nephrectomy was adopted firstly, three weeks later streptozotocin(STZ) was administered intraperitoneally to establish diabetic nephropathy model in rats. Animals were divided into four groups:model group, Xiaoke Keli Ji treatment group, positive control group and sham group. Changes of serum sugar and serum creatinine, cholesterol and triglyceride were examined at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 weeks after STZ injection. Renal tissue samples were adopted at 6th week and studied by light microscopy. RESULTS: Model group demonstrated different degree of glomerular sclerosis. Lesions in treatment group were alleviated. Serum creatinine, serum sugar and serum cholesterol were higher at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 weeks after STZ injection in model group than that of the sham group ( P

ABSTRACT

AIM: To investigate the therapeutic effects of "Shen Yan Yi Qi Solution",a chinese Medicine,on nephrotoxic serum nephritis in the rat. METHODS: Nephrotoxic serum nephritis model of the rat was set up by the Clarke's method. RESULTS: Proteinuria and renal insufficiency occurred in all rats after nephrotoxic serum (NTS) injection, but symptoms in treatment group were reduced. At 2nd week, the typical linear deposition of IgG along the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) was observed by fluorescence microscopy. Mesangial hyperplasia and crescent formation in glomeruli were also observed by light microscopy. In treatment group, all the above lesions were alleviated. CONCLUSION: It demonstrated that "Shen Yan Yi Qi Solution" might alleviate the pathological change of glomeruli and improve renal function.
